'Emy' was engaged to increase a window opening. After Emy cut the opening wider and installed internal and external lintels I called building regs to inspect, they slated the work as oversized for purchased windo unsafe and poor standard as per the email pasted below. By this time Emy had insisted on being paid £800, half of the labour. After Building Regs assessed Emy's work, he stopped answering phone calls and text messages and has not been seen or heard from since. Building regs email in next review.

  Building regs condemned YOUR work. If you're work was up to building regs standard there wouldn't have been a problem. I will post the email from building regs to remind you of their independent assessment of your work.

  The opening for the window appears to be too large leaving large gaps both to the sides and above the windows. Filling such large gaps with foam or bricks is unacceptable, a new window to correctly fit the new aperture is likely required. The internal PCC lintel has insufficient bearing, 90mm one end and 50mm the other end. A new lintel is required with a minimum bearing of 150mm each end. The external lintel is not in straight, it sits flush with the brickwork one end and then approximately 50mm in at the

  other end, this is to be removed and straightened up. Bricks above the new external lintel appear to have become loose and stuck back in with expanding foam. Workmanship regarding the window and lintel installation on site is extremely poor. Please book another inspection once the issues above have been resolved.
