We had them in to install insulation in our upstairs floor, replace the sub floor, replace some lights, install a loft hatch, and board out our loft. On top of this they discovered a problem in our roof that they fixed. We were incredibly impressed by all of the staff that attended on site. They were friendly, polite at all times, and worked really hard, to a high standard. I couldn't recommend James and his team more, and we've already started talking to them about a further project.

Placed advert Thursday. Contacted same day by Mike with a view to coming out and quoting next day. Came on time priced the job on Friday and arranged to start work on the Tuesday. Mike worked with his son Silas. What a really nice pair. Genuine, polite and got on with the job even though I asked for a few tweaks along the way. Both very old school and worked at their own pace - happy with work carried out and will use them again. Reasonable price too.

Dan and his colleague built a rather large red brick wall for me which I am very pleased with. They were fast, tidy and efficient. They were also able to give advise on the best way to finish off the top of the wall. Secondly, they used the right mix of cement and lime to continue with the same colour mortar. They were also able to calculate exactly the quantity of bricks, cement etc. I would need so therefore there was very little wastage. I would definitely use them again.

Hi I'm a time served bricklayer, with 40 years experience, I have been self employed for the last 38 years and have never really been out of work but moved to Norfolk from Essex a couple of years ago and I am now looking for local work. I've done most things over the years extensions, house building, walls, landscaping, patios, driveways etc, I have also been lucky enough to build my own house, I'm currently working with my son Terry which works well. DB Building Conservation specialises in the use of lime plasters for the repair of listed and period buildings. We are period property experts. We have extensive experience of lime plastering, render and traditional materials such as lath and plaster and wattle and daub. We also undertake repointing and wall repairs with flint and clunch. I have an MSc in Building Conservation and can advise on many aspects of the care and renewal of traditional buildings whether listed or not. Issues such as damp and insulation in old properties are a speciality. We can also recommend and liaise with other tradespeople who are qualified to repair historic timber, brick and stone. We have a detailed knowledge of regulations as they apply to Listed Buildings and have long experience of guiding owners through the process of obtaining listed building consent. We can prepare documents such as Heritage Statements and repair specs to support applications to alter or repair period properties.
Dan did such a great job with our 17th century lime wall. Painstakingly removing the modern repair without damaging the surrounding plaster and then re-lathing and finishing with lime plaster. You can hardly see where the repair is even though we didn't skim the whole wall to preserve wall paintings. Very clean and tidy and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again, highly recommended.
